Art/Visual Journaling Retreat – presented by the Hope and Wellness Ministry

Saturday, February 4, 9am-12pm. Simon Room at St. Simon Parish.

Come and learn how to use expressive art as a means of healing through art journaling. You don’t have to be an artist! No skills or previous experience required.

Scientists and medical professionals have come to understand that when we heal our emotional wounds, we also heal the wounds of the body. According to author Barbara Ganim in her book “Art and Healing”, art brings out our inner healer, which changes the way in which a living organism or bodily part functions, and our spirit, mind and body heal; as well as changing the way you think of yourself.” “The mere act of releasing these emotions through art enables the immune system to return to a state of full functioning.”

The art materials are easy and probably something you already have in your home.

Bring:

–  a journal (approximately 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 or 5 1/2 x 8)  No need for anything fancy.

–  scissors

–  glue stick (ex. Uhu, Elmers, Avery, Scotch)

–  bring magazines or gather magazine images and words – find images that speak to you.

Choose pictures and words by color, form or style. Uneven shapes are great!

We’ll enjoy the pleasure of being creative, having quiet time, and sharing stories with others.

Wearing of masks are encouraged.

REGISTER HERE. Registration not required; just helpful for the planners!
