I was sick and you comforted me…Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.

Matthew 25:36-40

As faithful Catholics we are called to works of mercy, especially that of visiting the sick. We are encouraged to follow and imitate Jesus who showed so much compassion for the sick during his life on earth. When we care for and visit the sick, it is Christ Himself we care for and visit. Hospital Ministry is an opportunity for parishioners to extend God’s love, comfort and encouragement to the hospitalized and their families through visitation, bringing Eucharist, and prayer

Bringing the healing power of God to patients, the Priests of St. Simon Parish cover Hospital Ministry at El Camino Hospital and are available upon request to visit parishioners at other local hospitals. They administer the Sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick. Our Lay Hospital Ministers serve at El Camino Hospital and provide visitation, prayer and Eucharist.

When possible, plese notify a parish priest or a member of the Pastoral Staff  if you or a family member will be hospitalized. The priest may administer the Sacrament of Anointing before you or your family member enters the hospital. Patients who wish to be visited by a Priest or Hospital Minister should let the hospital personnel know, or contact the rectory office directly at 650-880-1401.

St. Simon Hospital Ministry is coordinated by Jean Rousseau. If you would like to answer the call and become a part of our Hospital Ministry, please contact the rectory at 650-880-1401 or email Jean, hospitalministry@stsimon.org.
