Full authority has been given to me both in heaven and on earth; go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”.

-Matthew 28:18-19

Baptism for children under 7 years of age:

After an initial interview with a priest the parents are asked to attend a baptismal preparation session at the parish. Godparents are also encouraged to attend. The purpose of our baptismal preparation session is to share an understanding of the Rite of Baptism, the role of parents and godparents and other helps toward Christian witness. It is important to know that Godparents must be at least 16 years of age, be fully initiated and are participating in the life and worship of the Catholic Church. Baptisms of infants and young children are celebrated during the Sunday liturgy as scheduled according to the Church Year. The Sacrament of Baptism is not celebrated during the season of Lent.  Parents/Expectant Parents seeking the sacrament of baptism for their child should contact Fr. Thuc Si Ho, tho@stsimon.org or 650-880-1401 at least two months prior to the desired date of Baptism.

Baptism for people over the age of 7:

People ages 7 and above who wish to be baptized must participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. This process runs from September through May. At the Easter Vigil following the initial discernment both children and adults are eligible to celebrate Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Parents of children age 7 or above wishing to enter this process are highly encouraged to participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC). Interested parties should register in person in the summer.
