Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) Levels I & II Catechist Formation Course

Summers 2024 and 2025 at St. Simon Church in Los Altos, California

Level I. Part 1: June 17-23, 2024 and Part 2: June 14-20, 2025 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm)

Level II. Part 1: July 22-28, 2024 and Part 2: July 21-27, 2025 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm).

Material-making workshop, two days (optional) July 29-30, 2024 and July 19-20, 2025.

*The material-making workshop is for creating CGS materials. It is for Levels I & II. ALL parents and volunteers are welcome to attend.

$600 per Formation Level of the Course, morning refreshments and lunch are provided.

$550 if you register for both parts of one level, you will receive $50 discount.

Level I Cathechist Formation Course

Level I Adult Formation Leader, Marty O’Bryan, MAPS-CGS 

Marty O’Bryan began her formation in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd with Sofia Cavalletti in 1983 and has been a catechist since 1985. She conducts adult formations at Levels I, II and III throughout the United States. A retired speech and language pathologist, Marty holds a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies with an emphasis on the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (MAPS-CGS) from Aquinas Institute of Theology. Currently, she works with children in Level I, II, and III atria in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix.

Level I Catechist Formation Leader, Sr. Monica Vianney Le, OP 

Sr. Monica Vianney Le, OP, is a Dominican Sister of Mary Immaculate Province in Houston, Texas. She graduated from the Franciscan University of Steubenville with a Bachelor’s degree, double majoring in Theology and Mental Health. Sr. Monica became a catechist of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in 2012. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies with an emphasis in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (MAPS-CSG) from Aquinas Institute of Theology. Sr. Monica was certified as a Level I formation leader in 2018. She works in Levels I and II Atria with children of Nazareth Academy, Homeschool, Our Lady of Sorrow, and St. Mary Catholic Church in the Diocese of Victoria, Texas.

Level II Catechist Formation Course Leader, Lynda Catalano 

Lynda Catalano has been the catechist at Holy Trinity Church in Fillmore, California, for 33 years and took her first level I Formation at Notre Dame in 1991. She has worked weekly in the atrium with groups of 3 to 6-year-olds, 6 to 9-year-olds, and 9 to 12-year-olds.   She has led level I, II and III formation courses for adults throughout the United States and internationally (including China), has been on formation teams for CGSUSA National Association courses, and leads courses in Spanish. She is a member of the Formation Leader Discernment committee of the United States Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and has been on presenting teams for Formation Leader Training Courses. Lynda is retired from teaching art, science, Spanish, kindergarten and first graders in public school.  She has four married children and three beautiful grandchildren.
