Music Ministry

God has bestowed upon his people the gift of song. God dwells within each human person, in the place where music takes its source. Indeed, God, the giver of song, is present whenever his people sing his praises.

Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship, paragraph 1

Music ministry is an important part of the Liturgical life of the parish that earnestly desires that all the faithful should be led to full, conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations. The very nature of liturgy demands music as it serves a variety of needs. It gathers the voice of the assembly into one. It accompanies processions. It invites people to listen. It colors and drives the drama of worship. Music serves and enhances the Liturgy so that all who gather to celebrate Christ’s Paschal Mystery may become One Body, One Spirit in Christ.

The Parish choir provides ministry for the 11:15am Sunday Mass, as well as for high holy days such as the Easter Vigil and Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. The choir sings in four-part harmony, both hymns and choral works. Choir Practices are Wednesday nights at 7:30pm.

The Children’s Choir (Grades 2nd-8th) sings each week during the school year at the 9:00am Sunday Mass, on Christmas Eve, and for First Eucharist. Choir Practices are Thursdays after school. Children from all schools are welcome to join.
