Interested in Becoming a CGS Catechist?
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a beautiful, child-centered approach to faith formation rooted in Montessori principles. As a CGS catechist, you create a sacred space where young children (ages 3–10) encounter Jesus and discover their relationship with God.
What it takes:
- A commitment to Sunday morning classes throughout the school year
- Two weeks of initial training (July 18–31): Level I (July 18–24) and Level II (July 25–31)
- Ongoing formation and community with fellow catechists
- A heart ready to accompany children on their spiritual journey

Here are the training dates and details:
July 18-24 Training on the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 1 at St. Nicholas & St. William.
- Level I lays the foundation for all subsequent Levels of formation in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). It explores the religious nature and the most vital religious needs of the 3-6 year old child.
July 25-31 Training on the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 2 at St. Nicholas & St. William.
- Level II course provides the theological foundations for catechesis with children and presents Montessori in pedagogy to prepare adults to work with children 6-9 years of age.
