We are delighted to welcome Father Dat Thanh Luong to the St. Simon Parish family! Fr. Dat joins us from Our Lady of La Vang Parish in San Jose. He grew up in Vietnam and moved to California in 1999, where he has lived ever since. Fr. Dat brings a wealth of cultural experiences and a deep faith journey to our community.

After 2 years living in the U.S.A and right after finishing high school, he felt a powerful call to become a priest. He says that “God is The Great Fisherman and he reeled me in … there is no other way to explain this”. Fr. Dat says that being a priest is the greatest blessing and that God is the most generous, loving and caring boss that one can ever find. God even surpasses that and he feels that being able to work for God is the best deal anyone can ask for!

In his spare time, Fr. Dat enjoys reading books about saints (revealing God in a simple way), good philosophical, theological, financial, scientific articles and any good books that others recommend.

Fr. Dat says, God gives us this life to enjoy and a few jokes here and there should brighten our days! He reminds us that we all are God’s children and that God will work mysteriously to bring everyone back to Him.
