Courage and Humility: The Church and AI
Courage and Humility: The Church and AI A Firsthand Account — An Evening with Fr. Brendan
Sunday, June 14 | 6:00 PM | Parish Center Gym
On Pope Leo XIV’s landmark encyclical Magnifica Humanitas: what it says, why it matters, and the historic conversation now underway between the Church and the world of AI.
You may have seen Fr. Brendan in the news lately. He was in Rome for the release of Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, and he was a personal witness to something remarkable.
This Sunday evening, he brings that moment home. He’ll describe what it was like to be in the room when the Church, through Pope Leo, spoke plainly to the world about artificial intelligence — with both humility and courage — and when one of the leading figures in the AI industry received those words in the same spirit, with humanity and openness.
Fr. Brendan will walk us through what the encyclical actually says, share what he saw firsthand from the Vatican to the technology companies of Silicon Valley, and reflect on what this encounter means for all of us , not only for those who work in tech.
Whether you’ve been following AI closely or are simply trying to understand what the Church is saying about it and why it matters, please join us. We’ll reflect together on what it means for us, as people of faith, to engage wisely with the technology now shaping our world.
All are welcome. Pizza, wine, and water will be served. Please RSVP Here.
