This April, as we celebrate National Poetry Month, we are delighted to highlight the gifts of our very own parishioner and poet, Christine Moore. Christine has been actively sharing her passion and talent within our St. Simon Parish community in Los Altos and beyond. This month alone, she has led inspiring poetry classes for our school students, offered her insights at our Confirmation Retreat, and guided a reflective session for our OCIA candidates. She also teaches poetry to students at St. Francis High Schol and to students with Autism at a school in Palo Alto.
As Christine beautifully articulates, “At the core of poetry, is a deep desire to understand our world and the lives we are living. I enjoy teaching children and working with adults in both retreat and workshop settings to see how poetry enables deep investigation and map-making.”
Here at St. Simon Parish, we believe that Poetry and Faith have long been intertwined, because both seek to stand in awe at God’s creation. We embrace the sacred curiosity and beauty of our Catholic faith through various expressions, including art, music, conversation, and the profound language of poetry. Christine embodies this spirit, possessing a remarkable ability to weave the truths and beauty of our faith into her poetic expressions. We are grateful for her presence and look forward to her continued engagement with our ministry groups throughout the coming year. Stay tuned for opportunities to connect with Christine and explore the intersection of faith and poetry.
