As we gather this weekend to celebrate Christ the King Sunday, we find ourselves amidst the joyous atmosphere of Thanksgiving. In the spirit of this special occasion, may we reflect on the importance of valuing and cherishing the incredible gifts that surround us—our families, friends, the precious gift of faith, and the often-overlooked gift of health.

Life can often be likened to riding a bull, navigating the twists and turns that come our way. Amidst the excitement and unpredictability, we are reminded of the importance of holding on to the core values that ground us in our journey of faith. This weekend, let us embark on a ride of gratitude, acknowledging the blessings that Christ, our King, has bestowed upon us.

Family and friends are among the greatest treasures in our lives. They are the pillars of support, the ones who share in our joys and sorrows, and the ones who stand by us in our faith journey. In the midst of the exhilarating ride of life, take a moment to appreciate and give thanks for the love and companionship that God has blessed you with through your family and friends.

The gift of faith is another precious blessing that deserves our gratitude. Christ the King Sunday is a poignant reminder that Jesus Christ reigns in our hearts. In times of challenge and uncertainty, our faith is the anchor that keeps us steady. Take this opportunity to express gratitude for the gift of faith that sustains us through the highs and lows of life by coming to Sunday Mass as a family if you are able to do so. If not, please join us online. The livestream link is here.

For those of us who are blessed with good health, let’s extend our gratitude for the gift of health which we often take for granted. During life’s bull ride, our health allows us to face challenges with resilience and embrace joy with open arms. As we celebrate Christ the King and give thanks this weekend, let our hearts overflow with gratitude for the gift of health that enables us to fully experience the blessings that God has placed in our lives.

In our prayers, may we remember those who are sick in our community and those who are nearing the end of their earthly journey. May the Lord journey with them in a special way through the gift and presence of family and friends, surrounding them with the love they need during these challenging times.

May this Christ the King Sunday be a time of profound gratitude, acknowledging the love of family and friends, the strength of our faith, and the invaluable gift of health. Embrace the challenges with gratitude, for it is through gratitude that we find strength, resilience, and a deeper connection to the King who reigns in our hearts.

Tomorrow, Sunday evening, St. Simon Parish will participate in the Los Altos Festival of Lights Parade on November 26 at 6:00 pm. Our float is ready thanks to the Stewart family and our cheer squad will be spreading cheer! The Bolivar and Cordoza families are preparing a table to meet at on the corner of State & 3rd streets so stop by, pick up a glow stick and enjoy the community spirit.

Next weekend at St. Simon, we have two events to kick off the Advent season. On Saturday, December 2 after the 5:00 pm Mass, we are having our first Christmas Tree Lighting event. Cisco Rivera and the team of volunteers will install the tree and lights around campus for all to enjoy during the season. We will light the new Christmas Tree in the courtyard, sing carols and have hot chocolate and cider for all to enjoy. We want to celebrate community every week of December! On Sunday, December 3 we will host our traditional Advent Wreath Making event, so please reserve your spot with this link here.

Please save the date of Saturday, December 16 for John Angotti’s  “Peace on Earth” Concert with his whole band and Meredith Augustin. It will be a great night as we pray for peace, celebrate love and prepare ourselves for Christ’s birth. This is a family friendly event with Mass at 5:00 pm Mass, followed by a reception at 6:00 pm and the concert at 7:00 pm. Come and pray for peace and celebrate the community. We will have a light meal and drinks at the reception, please register for our catering purposes here.

Wishing you a joyous and blessed Christ the King Sunday celebration and the rest of your Thanksgiving weekend!

God Bless,
